Privacy Policy
Long Island Trades (LongIslandTrades.com) is run by Ritual Media and Productions Ltd., a New York corporation (registered address: 418 Broadway STE R, Albany, NY 12207). Contact: jobs@longislandtrades.com. This page explains what we collect, who sees it, how long we keep it, and how to delete it.
The short version
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not run ads.
- Workers: only your first name and last initial show publicly (only your first initial if you choose "Quietly open"). Your email is never shown on the site.
- The site is free right now. We collect no payment details. If we add fees later, we will update this page first.
- We do not use tracking cookies or analytics.
- You must be 18 or older to add a worker card.
What we collect
Workers (worker cards) - First and last name, trade, town (from our list, or a town you type in plus Nassau or Suffolk), years of experience, short summary, skills and certifications, availability (including a start date if you choose "Available from a date"), and up to 4 portfolio links (an Instagram @handle is turned into an instagram.com link). - Optional: the pay you are looking for, in your own words. - Whether your card is "Looking now" or "Quietly open", and for "Quietly open" cards, whether you chose to show your portfolio links and your pay note. - Your email (required). We do not ask for your phone number.
Photo (optional) - You can add one photo to your card (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB). Before we save it, we remove hidden details such as camera data and GPS location. We store it in private Cloudflare R2 storage under a random file name. - Your photo only shows on "Looking now" cards. We never save or show a photo on a "Quietly open" card. We see your photo when we review your card. - When you remove or replace your photo, or remove your card, we delete the photo from our storage.
Resume upload (optional) - If you upload a resume (PDF, Word .docx, or .txt, up to 5 MB), we read it once to fill in the form for you. The file is processed in memory by Cloudflare Workers AI, which pulls out details like your name, trade, town, experience, skills, licenses, links, and email. We then check what it found against your resume text and drop licenses your resume does not support. - We do not save the file or its text. It is never stored in our database, file storage, logs, or email, and it is never shown on your card. - Only the fields you review, edit, and submit are saved. AI can make mistakes, so check every field before you submit. - The resume reader never picks "Quietly open" for you. That is always your choice. - To limit abuse, each upload saves a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address and the time, deleted after 2 days.
Employers (job posts) - Job title, company name, company website, town, trade, pay range, short description, link to the full listing, and a contact email (not shown publicly).
Messages from employers to workers - The employer's name, company, email, and message. We email it to the worker. We do not save the message on the site.
Spam protection - When someone sends a message through a card, we save a scrambled (hashed) version of their IP address and the time. We use this only to limit spam, and we delete it after 2 days. - When you ask for a manage link at /manage, we save your email, a scrambled version of the link, and the time, and delete them after 1 day. We also save a hashed IP address and the time to limit abuse, deleted after 2 days. - We do not record IP addresses when you post a job or add a card, except the hashed IP for a resume upload or a manage link request, described above.
Email delivery records - Our hosting provider keeps short technical logs. Our logs record only the type of email sent and a record number, not your email address or the subject line.
Job alerts - We do not send job alert emails right now, and there is no way to sign up for them. If we offer job alerts in the future, we will update this page before they start, they will need your OK by a confirm email, and every alert will have an unsubscribe link.
What is public
- "Looking now" cards: first name and last initial, trade, town and county, years of experience, availability, your pay note if you add one, summary, skills, portfolio links, and your photo if you add one. Anyone can see this, including your current employer.
- "Quietly open" cards: only your first initial, trade, county, years of experience, summary, skills and licenses, and the label "Open to the right offer". We hide your name and town, and we hide your portfolio links and pay note unless you choose to show them. These cards ask search engines not to list them and are left out of our sitemap.
- "Quietly open" is low-key, not invisible. Anyone can still see the card, and someone who knows you could recognize it. Do not name your current employer on your card.
- Job posts: everything on the post except the contact email.
- Job posts and "Looking now" cards can show up in search engines such as Google. Job posts also include standard job data that Google can read for its job search.
Who sees your private details
- Us. We review every post and card before it goes live, using a private admin page. Our review emails include what will be public, but not your email address. Email sent to jobs@longislandtrades.com is forwarded to our business inbox.
- Employers who message you see your email only if you reply to them.
- Service providers who run the site for us:
- Cloudflare: hosting, database, reading uploaded resumes (Cloudflare Workers AI, file not stored), sending email, and forwarding our inbound email.
- Google Workspace (Gmail): our business inbox.
- We may share information if the law requires it, or to stop fraud or abuse.
How we use your email
- Workers: to email you messages employers send through your card, and to send notices about your card, such as when it goes live.
- Employers: to tell you when your post is live and to contact you about it.
How long we keep it
- Live worker cards: until you remove them. We may remove cards older than 12 months after emailing you first.
- Job posts: taken off the site 30 days after approval, and deleted from our database, with the employer's contact email, 30 days after that.
- Declined posts and cards: deleted after 7 days.
- Posts and cards never reviewed: deleted after 30 days.
- Spam-protection records: deleted after 2 days.
- Review and support emails in our inbox: deleted within 30 days after the post or card they are about is removed or declined.
Deleting your card or data
- Workers: when your card goes live, we email you a private link. Using it deletes your card, your email, and the spam-protection records tied to your card from our database right away. It cannot be undone.
- Lost the link? Email jobs@longislandtrades.com from the address on your card and we will delete it.
- Employers: email jobs@longislandtrades.com to remove a post or your contact details.
- After deletion, copies may remain for up to 30 days in our inbox, and in the other person's inbox for messages already sent. We do not control copies in other people's inboxes.
Security
We use signed links for review and removal, keep contact details off public pages, keep the admin page private, and collect no passwords, Social Security numbers, or payment details. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will tell you without unreasonable delay and as the law requires.
Children and teens
The site is for adults. You must be at least 18 to add a worker card. If we learn we have information from someone under 18, we will delete it.
Where this policy applies
The site is for jobs on Long Island, New York, and is run from New York. We follow New York law. If you live somewhere with its own privacy rights, you can still ask us at any time to see or delete your information, and we will do it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. For big changes, we will email people with live posts or cards.
